Church of Scientology Volunteers Launch the “Keep Hollywood Beautiful” Campaign
The Church of Scientology of Los Angeles’ volunteer team has launched a full-on campaign to restore Hollywood’s beauty and the safety of its streets.
The East Hollywood area has seen a rapid increase in homelessness, crime and drug usage in the past five years. The results have been degradation to the appearance of the neighborhoods and an increasingly unsafe place to live and work in.
In response to all of this, the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles has come together with the community under one united goal — to “Keep Hollywood Beautiful.” But, how will they do this? With regularly held community clean-ups!
The most recent one was last Saturday morning, where twenty volunteers gathered together with brooms, gloves, trash bags and boxes of The Way to Happiness booklets — a nonreligious, common sense guide to better living. The volunteers are following a precept from the booklet, and that precept is “Safeguard and Improve your Environment.” It reads:
“Care of the planet begins in one’s own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work. It covers such places as where one picnics or goes on vacation. The litter which messes up the terrain and water supply, the dead brush which invites fire, these are things one need not contribute to and which, in otherwise idle moments, one can do something about.”
—L. Ron Hubbard
The objective is to target the worst areas around Hollywood, get them cleaned up, and distribute The Way to Happiness to the entire community while doing so with the goal being to maintain the cleanliness restored with the clean-ups.

These volunteers are leading the way in the community, setting a good example and getting anyone and everyone involved to create a safer, cleaner and more beautiful Hollywood!
The feedback from the community has been stellar from pedestrians to business owners with effusive comments like “Thank You!” and “God bless you!” Some even picked up brooms and pitched in!
The next clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, August 7th at 9 a.m. starting at the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles. All are welcome and encouraged to come help.
